Purpose
This policy sets out the standards ToolsForDB applies to its published content. It exists so readers, vendors and affiliate partners can hold us to a stated standard rather than an implied one.
Independence
Editorial decisions — which tools to review, what to say about them, and which alternatives to list — are made independently of commercial relationships.
No vendor may review, approve or edit content before publication. No vendor may purchase a position, a rating or the removal of criticism.
Sourcing standards
Claims about features and functionality are sourced from vendor documentation or product interfaces.
Claims about pricing describe the billing model rather than specific figures, and link to the vendor’s live pricing page.
Statements about recurring user experience are drawn from publicly available feedback across multiple platforms and are described as themes, not as our own experience.
Where we do not know something, we say so rather than filling the gap.
Prohibited practices
- Fabricating testimonials, quotes, reviewer identities or usage statistics.
- Presenting research as hands-on testing.
- Publishing unverifiable authority claims such as invented client numbers or years of experience.
- Copying vendor marketing copy and presenting it as editorial assessment.
- Using artificial urgency, countdown timers or invented scarcity.
- Omitting a material limitation because a commercial relationship exists.
Review updates
Each review carries a last-verified date. We revisit pages when we become aware of material changes to pricing, features or company status, and re-date them when updated.
Corrections are made openly. We do not silently edit substantive errors.
Handling vendor requests
We correct factual errors promptly when a vendor supplies the specific claim and a source.
We decline requests to remove accurate criticism, soften limitations sections, or omit competing alternatives.
Accountability
If content on this site falls short of this policy, tell us. We will correct it and, where the failure is substantive, note the correction on the page.
